Rockers International

During the month of September 2012 InI had the pleasure of hosting a show with members of Augustus Pablo's Rockers International team. Words on a page can not adequately portray the energy present in the studio on this blessed evening. Rastafari spirit and soul lit up the place.

The magnificent voice which is Earl 16 was present and related some stories of his journey from childhood in Jamaica to his arrival in England. As he stated through the guidance of the likes of Augustus Pablo he was able to become the artist he is today. Clear in his mind about his purpose and his role in keeping Reggae music relevant. As he so aptly put it he is a "Reggae Ambassador".

Also present was the man Jah T. The voice on the immortal El Rockers track. This is the sound of Rockers and it is the sound that defined a generation of Afrikan youth on at least two continents.
The extremely unassuming Bredda Ghishe who keeps the music and legacy of Father Augustus Pablo alive was trying hard to stay in the background, however, Sista Benji made sure that ones and ones understand, each one must step forward and receive the accolade which is due to them.

Alongside this mighty ensemble InI made time to converse with the effervescent Delroy Washington, who took some time out to be with us on the eve of the blue plaque unveiling for Bob Marley and  The Wailers, in Neasden. This unveiling followed closely a similar event to mark Dennis Brown's contribution to Reggae and the London Borough of Brent.
Last, but most definitely not least, The Roots Ambassador, The indomitable Jah Youth whose Red sound has been blazing the fire for as long as most of us can remember, selected some priceless Augustus Pablo production, some very familiar and others not so. Each track was a gem from the crown of the undefeated King of Rockers - Horace "Augustus Pablo"  Swaby.
